Privacy

Privacy policy

Gift Potluck is a planning table, not a store. This page is the privacy policy for Google sign-in and for the plans stored when you choose to create an account.

What we store if you sign in

If you use Sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google, along with Google’s account identifier. We store your first name, email address, and avatar URL so the group can see who voted, pledged, claimed, or checked an item. We do not ask Google for access to your contacts, calendar, or Drive.

We also store a session cookie on your browser. The cookie is HttpOnly, so page scripts cannot read it. It lets the site know you are signed in. Signing out deletes that session.

Plans you create

A shared plan stores the title, the kind of plan, and the JSON you and the group write: names, gift ideas, pledge amounts you type, checklist ticks, claims, and, for a gift exchange, the organiser’s draw. People with the link can view a plan. Changing it requires a sign-in. Gift exchange matches are stored for the organiser. Each member is shown only their own match.

If you do not sign in

The tools still work. The plan stays in your browser’s local storage and in the link you copy. That link-only mode does not create a Google account record.

Reminder emails

If you pledge on a shared plan while signed in, we may email you from noreply@giftpotluck.com. Reminders go out about three days after an unpaid pledge, one day before the organiser’s due date, and when the organiser taps “Nudge unpaid” (at most once a day). Each message includes the plan link, the amount, and how to pay. You can unsubscribe from reminders for that plan with the link in the email. We store that opt-out. People who pledge without an account are not emailed.

Amazon Associates

As an Amazon Associate, Gift Potluck earns from qualifying purchases. Links to Amazon include the associate tag threadandfade-20. We do not receive your Amazon account, your orders, or your payment details. Amazon’s own privacy policy covers what happens after you leave this site.

How long and who else

Plan data and account data stay until you ask for them to be deleted or you delete the plan. We do not sell personal information. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests in order to serve the pages.
